Masonic Villages staff provide wellness, spiritual and recreational opportunities and engagement, but the more personal connections residents can make, the brighter their days. As an extension of our Sending Smiles program, we’re launching a Pen Pals and Phone Friends program.

While residents in our nursing and personal care areas have been unable to visit with their loved ones in person during the current pandemic, they have kept in contact over the phone and via video chat.

For some residents, though, they do not receive many, or in a few cases any, calls.

Simply write a letter introducing yourself and listing a few of your hobbies and interests. We’ll match you up with a resident who will respond to your letter. (For those concerned about COVID-19 transmission, letters received will be held for several days before being shared with residents.) For residents who have difficulty writing, video chat or email may be preferred. If you are comfortable with these options, please include your phone number and/or email, so staff can coordinate a call or a resident may email you.

Thank you for taking a few minutes of your time to make an immeasurable difference in the lives of our residents! Knowing someone is thinking about them will create a sense of anticipation and joyful lifelong memories that will remain long after the pandemic.
