American heroes from the greatest generation were honored on this Veterans Day at Masonic Village at Elizabethtown. With a parade line full of staff, visitors and kindergartners from the Hildebrandt Learning Center at Masonic Village, 60 resident veterans from the Masonic Health Care Center were cheered on and thanked as they entered a special Salute to Our Veterans program filled with singing and remembrance.
Each kindergartner was matched with a veteran “buddy” for the program, pairing America’s history with its future. While waving flags of red, white and blue, the kindergarten class presented a photo of themselves saluting to their veterans.
“I feel thankful because veterans keep our country safe,” Gabby, a kindergarten student, said.
Supporting troops and honoring veterans at Masonic Village is a long-standing tradition, which dates back to ceremonies held in 1915, the establishment of the Veterans Grove in 1920 and the lighting of the Eternal Flame Monument in 2014.
In celebration of Veterans Day, Masonic Village thanks the men and women who have sacrificed to preserve our country’s freedom, including those who have given the ultimate sacrifice.
