Sending Smiles

In order to safeguard our residents in our nursing and personal care areas from COVID-19, they must spend most of their time in their rooms. While our staff are using technology to connect residents to loved ones and are providing alternate means of offering wellness, spiritual and recreational opportunities, we know they would appreciate surprises to brighten their days.
We welcome children, family members and anyone interested in showing they care to send cards, drawings and letters that can be shared with residents, especially those who have few family connections. In addition, with some supplies being limited at this time, our recreation therapists have offered their “wish lists” of items our residents enjoy doing. (For those concerned about COVID-19 transmission, items received will be held for several days before being shared with residents.)

Maureen Jackson was competing for more than a trophy when took part in Masonic Village's Harvest Hustle. Thanks to staff across the Rehabilitation, Home Health and Wellness Departments, five months after breaking her leg, she was taking back her independence one step at a time.

Masonic Village at Lafayette Hill resident Paula Gidjunis recently screened a PBS documentary series about fathering, directed and hosted by her son, Philadelphia filmmaker Joe Gidjunis, 42.
