Kay Dunwoody’s father, Robert Batdorf, has not been receiving personal care services at Masonic Village at Elizabethtown for very long – only about a month – but he’s already made himself at home.

“He’s so much more relaxed,” she said. After her father fell and began receiving short-term rehabilitation, doctors determined it was time for him to transition to personal care.

“He’s a high fall risk, so now I know he’s safe if he were to fall,” Kay said. “I like knowing he’s secure.”

The admissions and move-in process can be a stressful time for residents and families, but Kay says their experience was “perfect.” “Everyone – from admissions to nursing – made it so much easier for us as a family,” she said.

One thing Kay appreciates about personal care is the people. “The staff are extremely caring and helpful. They don’t rush him, and are willing to listen,” she said.

Personal care services include daily living assistance, medication administration, meals, housekeeping services, transportation, social services, spiritual services, music therapy, entertainment and leisure programming. Each resident’s suite features attractive furnishings, and accommodations include a recreational area, spacious dining and kitchen area and family room.

Personal care services are available at Masonic Villages’ Elizabethtown, Lafayette Hill, Sewickley and Warminster locations. For more information, visit the Contact Us page.
