About the Author: Stacy Cathrall is the director of volunteer services at the Masonic Village at Elizabethtown.

The holidays bring family time, sweet treats and the spirit of giving! Through selfless gifts of time, energy and heart, volunteers are invaluable to the Masonic Village and our residents.

Over 670 community, youth and resident volunteers have dedicated their time throughout 2015. Our program can help students meet community service hours and provide people of all ages the opportunity to meet fellow volunteers, learn a variety of skills, develop new interests, and of course, feel the satisfaction of helping others.

Volunteers help our residents and staff in countless ways including assisting with recreational activities, creative arts and music therapy; reading mail and writing letters with our residents; hosting at meal times; escorting residents on walks or to in-house appointments; and just spending time socializing and reminiscing with our residents, who are always looking for someone to share their stories with.

We are also looking for committed volunteers to assist in one of Masonic Village’s many gift shops, where we will need the extra hands to help with our holiday rush.

This holiday season, remember, the greatest gift you can give is your time!
